Maharishi's solutions, in his own words
- The solution is education
At the press conference on Friday, 28 September, at the National Press Club, Washington, D.C., USA Maharishi
spoke eloquently on the nature of the US proposed response to September 11th and how it
fitted into a historical pattern of failure. He described the proven solutions
he is offering, and has been offering, the world for many years. You can watch

The first 20 minutes was Dr John Hagelin, the award winning physicist, talking about the scientific basis
of the solutions: the discovery by western science of the unified field and how
that transcendental value of life corresponded exactly to the ancient Vedic one
as re-vitalised by Maharishi.

[These are my notes made during the conference. Mistakes are mine, listen
to the real thing to hear what Maharishi actually said.]
"Despite punishment by government crime continues.
Solution is education to get individual life in accord with evolutionary
direction of Natural Law.
Time to make use of most fundamental level of life, Transcendental
Consciousness, all action, thoughts behaviour fully in accord with Natural Law.
Everything evolves. Evolution is a natural process. All should be in that
direction.
Transcendental Consciousness is within consciousness of everyone. Thus
everyone could be trained to get it. Validated by all the different physical
sciences and ancient Vedic literature. Transcendental Consciousness is self of
everyone. Total evolutionary direction available in self, atma of everyone.
Individual is cosmic. "Aham brahmasmi". Self of everyone is totality,
the Unified Field, yogic, unifyng quality of life.
Life has two values, unifying and diversifying.
Solution is higher education to get everyone's mind spontaneously functioning
in direction of evolution. Having taught millions of people in world we know it
is simple. Because it is one's own nature.
Physical sciences have discovered ultimate reality of Transcendental
Consciousness in everyone. This value can develop perfection in everyone.
Perfection equals spontaneous action in direction of evolution, equals totality,
and from totality emerges totality.
Everywhere Natural Law functions as total Natural Law.
Even greatest universities lack the intelligence which should design total
potential of Natural Law in all students. Thus I am desiging a university of
world peace. Giving total field of silence and dynamism at same time.
Fullness of life will make life of individual blossom in fullness. All is
ready in theory and application.
First time that total knowledge available on level of theory and practise.
If 40,000 people in a vedic village they study, perform vedic rites,
ceremonies, yagyas, graha shanti, vastu shanti.
Today: solution found many years ago, confirmed many times. If largest
country out to destroy world then must stop. I challenge USA whose president has
challenged the world. If I have money could stop all this wild gestures of most
important country. I'm convinced that this president doesn't know science.
Follows procedures of crime, punishment. Who is he to say he can stop crime?
History of life in world proves him wrong. He is ignorant of science and reality
of life. Throughout ages punishment of criminals has not stopped crime,
generation after of generation. President not educated in science. I asked
Hagelin [Natural Law Party presidential candidate 1996 and
2000] to educate him that ultimate reality is bliss. Cannot be
destroyed. Invaders come and go, but world continues.
President is following a flawed path. Throughout ages crime, criminals,
punishment, jail continue and crime continues. I'm not in favour of crime but
proclaim today that solution to life is with me. I could establish permanent
peace on earth.
I can create very strong coherence in world consciousness. I have asked for a
$1B endowment fund.
When old destroyers gone new ones will come up as they have generation after
generation. Only with the theme of consciousness strong influence of harmony
then destructive tendencies won't come up. Destructive tendencies will not
arise.
Prevention is answer. Who will do it? Government can do it. How? Education.
Consciousness based education. Education of most fundamental finding of modern
science. Somone should tell him."
In summary then the solution is education.
This educational solution is on two levels. Of the individual to give him or
her the benefit of their full brain potential, to expand the conscious capacity
of the mind from the surface thinking level to the transcendental level at its
basis. On the global level to give the world a stimulus of peace,
coherence and harmony at that transcendental
level, every day, in perpetuity, through a group of Vedic pandits based in India,
40,000 of them. To support that group permanently needs just $1 billion.
In response to questions from the press Maharishi talked about prayer:
"Prayer is good but that is not what I am talking about. Prayer is
speech and speech has four levels from the surface to the transcendental. For
prayer to be effective it must be from that transcendental level". See that
