Open letter to the Taliban and Afghanistan (and all so called "terrorist states")

Seven countries are on the U.S. State Department's list of "state sponsors of terrorism" -- Cuba, Iran, Iraq, Libya, North Korea, Sudan and Syria. Afghanistan is not on the list because the United States does not recognise its Taliban leadership. (Reuters)

Dear Leader

You clearly want to change the world. You would wish that those who are currently your enemies and damaging your way of life and the ways of life of those for whom you speak should change; should become more cordial and helpful rather than antagonistic.

You might feel impotent in the world order and angry. Your anger and aggression cannot be expressed in huge armies and weapons of war so you might chose to make your points via covert, terrorist operations. Certainly, terrorism is a potent method of attacking one's enemies but it is almost useless in defence.

As I write the Western world, because of the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon on Tuesday 11th September, will be examining your past actions closely to see if you are in any way the sponsors of those attacks. By all accounts they intend to demolish your governments if you were involved. Even if you were not the continuance of the well being of your country and peoples will surely be put under great strain.

In 1999 we placed advertisements in the leading defence journals extolling a non-violent technology of defence which brings peace and harmony to everyone in the world. Here is an example. You could easily implement these technologies very quickly.

Please, for the sake of world peace and your own prestige, do so.

Yours sincerely

William Hite
