16th October Dear Secretary of State You say you need lots of "intelligence" to be able to deal with terrorism properly. Quite right. But what is the best intelligence and where does it come from? Let's be realistic - the intelligence that you and most commentators are talking about is a euphemism for espionage and counter-espionage. It depends entirely upon the seedy worlds of treachery, blackmail, suborned loyalities, secrecy, double-dealing, reading private correspondence, eavesdropping, assassination and the like. One hesitates to mention, even as an aside, the role that your very own Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) had in the genesis of Osama Bin Laden and his like. Yet as a former professional soldier and now responsible for the foreign policy of your great country you will always yearn for information, for true intelligence. And you must know, in your heart of hearts, that the information you are getting is fatally flawed. You were a professional soldier and your principal goal in intelligence terms would have been to understand your enemy's strategy. You would want to know not so much what was passing between people but more crucially you would want to know what was on their minds. What are your enemies thinking? What are their desires? What are they really, really aiming for and when do they hope to achieve it? In short, what makes them tick? With information like that you in turn could put a strategy in place to effectively thwart them. How can you to get inside your enemy's mind? Let us look at some interesting findings from modern physics. Don't just switch off now - remember it was physics that brought us the atomic bomb. It is also physics which brings us cruise missiles, radar and much of the high technology of modern warfare. You might know more about some aspects of this than me. You know that matter, the world around us, is made from atoms and molecules. Those in turn are made from protons, neutrons, electrons and these in turn are made of a whole raft of other sub-atomic particles. All these particles and atoms and molecules are constantly interacting with each other through the medium of forces. There are four such main forces: magnetism, gravity, the strong interaction and the electro-weak interaction. In the last twenty years or so physicists have concluded, with the aid of some very fancy sounding theories, that all these forces and the different particles of matter come from one "thing" - a unified field. You will surely know that as we make use of finer and finer levels of the natural order we gain access to more and more powerful levels of energy. Thus a high explosive which uses chemical energy is on one level, whereas an atomic bomb which uses the internal binding energy of atomic nucleii is much more powerful. This unified field is everywhere and in everything - if it is permissible to say that something out of which everything is made is in any sense "inside" it. Everywhere it is the same. What is does is that without moving or doing anything it is the basis of all movement, activity, life, orderliness, creativity in the universe. It does this for the universe as a whole and for each and every tiniest part of it at the same time. The unified field is the source of all the laws of nature that govern absolutely everything in the universe. When you think of what it is working out all the time, how this electron is whizzing round that atom, how that swallow's wings are moving through the air, how your eye is reading this letter one thing becomes very clear: this is a field of great intelligence. In fact, to keep the whole universe working properly it can only be understood as a field of infinite intelligence. (Given that it is also the source of all energy in the universe it is also a field of infinite power - but that is another story. Read the letter I am about to send to the Secretary General of NATO to follow that up) Fortunately, you, and I, and everyone else can make conscious use of this intelligence. After all, it is everywhere thus it is inside you and me and everyone. But where is it exactly? and how do we get at it in a useful way? And what use is it? You know where your own intelligence is most easily found: in your mind. You can learn how to do something very specific with your mind to allow it to settle down and experience that self same field of pure intelligence that keeps the whole universe in order. When you do that you tap into the source of all intelligence of any sort. In fact it is the self same intelligence that keeps everyone alive and is at the basis of everyone's thinking. In that settled state of mind you will find what you are looking for, and indeed what everyone else is looking for: peace, happiness, fulfilment and harmony. You find out what really makes you "tick" and on that basis what makes everyone else. When you do it regularly your mind becomes clearer in daily activity and your health improves. You find ways out of intractable problems and ways to harmonise otherwise contrary tendencies. So do those around you. So do those around you! But why? because the unified field reacts to a person dipping into it, like ripples spreading out on the surface of a lake when a stone is dropped in. As you gain the benefits yourself those benefits in some small degree spread to your neighbours. The unified field is so intelligent that it can do that without you having to know or care how or why. Speak to some great men who have taken this advice: try President Joaquim Chissano of Mozambique who credits this technology with the saving of his country from internal strife and ruin. Speak to Maharishi Mahesh Yogi who brought this technique of Transcendental Meditation to the West some 45 years ago. Speak to his representatives in the US, say Dr John Hagelin, former presidential candidate and now the Minister of Science and Technology for the Global country of World Peace, he will tell you how it works and what has been done to prove it. Speak with your conscience: you are after all a man who understands warfare, and knows its true place in history. Yours sincerely William Hite |
