"Techie" details of what you can do with the
screens-
- You make the tool do things, on the selected Favorite or folder, with the mouse or the keyboard. You choose the default
actions using the options screen. Here it is:

- Go to a URL in a new browser window by either:
- double-clicking on it or
- pressing the Enter key or
- just click on it (if you have selected that option).
- Expand folders by clicking on the + or on the folder itself.
- The status bar at the bottom shows the full path within your
Favorites folder when you click on a folder or URL. You can instead set
this to show the target URL for the Favorite.
- CTRL+C or mouse Right-Click+Copy to get that full path or URL into
your clipboard. You can then paste it into the searching box and
edit it to find further similar items.
- Remove an item from the results tree (because it is not relevant
or whatever) by un-checking it. Of course it will re-appear next
time you do a similar search.
- Searching can be within the title text of the Favorite, its URL
(http://www etc) or both. The search results show only the
relevant ones if you have ticked "checked only". Otherwise
it shows all of your Favorites with the relevant ones marked by a
check.
- Any of the trees can be completely expanded, or collapsed using
the "Expand all" button.
- If you have a Favorites sub folder containing multiple Favorites
and sub-sub folders within it then a "virtual" folder
called "URL's" is shown in the tree to group the
"loose" Favorites. This virtual folder is not really in
your Favorites hierarchy but is used in the tree to help make it
more manageable. See "Gov" in the first screen shot above.
- Search Favorites works by creating a search list of data from your
Favorites folder each time you start it up. When you add, modify or
remove Favorites using Internet Explorer or other tools you can ask
it to refresh its search list using the
"Refresh" button.
- Tons of other features
- optionally minimize Search Favorites to the Windows system tray
- change fonts and colours for the main and results trees
- automatically select a different folder when you start
- save your scanned data and automatically reload next time
- command line option for startup
- step through next and previous search results automatically
- run multiple copies simultaneously accessing different
Favorites folders
- If your Favorites are not in the standard location which is
normally
%userprofile%/favorites
or perhaps
%windir%/favorites
you can choose your own location.
